Troubleshooting Life 285, October 11 - Once the problem is defined clearly, the decision is easy

Excerpt From The Daily Drucker, October 11 “Defining the Problem: The Principles”

Peter F. Drucker with Joseph A. Maciariello

“Until problem definition explains and encompasses all observable facts, the definition is either still incomplete or, more likely, the wrong definition. But once the problem has been correctly defined, the decision itself is usually pretty easy.”

Effective decisions involve asking questions like:

  1. What do I focus on?

  2. What meaning do I assign what I see?

  3. Now that I know all that, what do I do moving forward?

A violent figure he was, labeling Indigenous “Indians.”

Disease, slavery, violent and forced conversions to Christianity.

Reader, violence is all over the place.

In our history. Our video games. Our minds.

How does one achieve what Scorsese labeled “visual literacy" in this violent world?

Real violence can also be comedy, or cowboys, or gangsters, or musicals?

And then of course, there’s you, Reader.

What kind of character do you seek to play in 2023 and beyond?

Is your character one that creates problems, or solves them?

ACTION POINT: Once the problem is defined clearly, the decision is easy
