Troubleshooting Life 174, June 22 - Sometimes, a leader must embrace change

It has been said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly, but expecting a different result.

But that is exactly what most people do.

Today in 2020, I was scheduled to teach at Per Scholas.

Specifically, Chapter 14 of the Mike Meyers CompTIA A+ book, “Maintaining and Optimizing Operating Systems.” (available on Amazon)

The slideshow provided with the textbook is very heavy on Microsoft Windows.

There are literally 12 slides just on Microsoft Windows Patch Management. Here, I’ll show you one:

Like going to Control Panel in Windows 7 or 8 to check for updates, or in Windows 10 going to Settings and finding “Windows Update.”

But we do have Apple and Mac users in this remote Zoom class as well, including myself, the instructor.

So I decided to schedule into class time a livestream of WWDC 20, which is during class time.

Apple showed off a new Apple TV+ show Foundation, based on an Asimov science fiction novel, with the actor who played Lane Pryce on Mad Men, real name Jared Harris.

Perhaps people thought it was insane for Apple to make their own M1 chip, or iOS 14 widgets.

My class on Zoom loved that I shared my screen for this, and live chatting during the video.

It was a nice change of pace to talk about brand new Apple stuff instead of the usual CompTIA A+ Microsoft.

ACTION POINT: Sometimes, a leader must embrace change
