Troubleshooting Life 180, June 28 - Write someone a letter of recommendation
This is 1 out of 366 pages from my upcoming book "Troubleshooting Life."
1 page a day, 300 words or less, focused on education, entertainment, or enlightenment.
Today in 2023, I wrote this letter:
Back on April 17, 2023, I was supporting James Miao in training 2023-RTT-14 AWS re/Start, and was very impressed by this message in Zoom class from this learner I just met, Anthony Oleska:
From Anthony Oleska to Me (Direct Message) 10:52 AM
Hey Akash, you think later I can get into a breakout room with you or James to ask a few questions about AWS. ive been playing around more with it and im still trying to understand gateways, routing tables, and how interconnected subnets/networks all function within AWS.
And I did talk to Anthony about those things. Shared a challenge lab with him that my manager Michael Boggs gave me, and I had fun doing.
I figured Anthony would too. Teachers of all types likely understand that some people you train are a bit advanced, and need something more outside the course content to satisfy technical curiosities.
Later that month, I remember Ant had questions about my website, and I enjoyed answering his questions as we continued the AWS Certified Cloud Practioner training.
This past monday started week 15 of 15. With his graduation this Friday, Anthony (now a Certified Cloud Practitioner) was showing me he had been making HIS cool new website (antoleska.net).
Reflecting on it, I truly enjoyed training and managing Anthony in AWS re/Start class.
It is truly a joy to meet a fellow human being who is curious, self-driven, energetic, and most importantly, helpful to other human beings in class.
Mr. Oleska embodies the philosophy "each one teach one" Mr. Boggs likes to say to our AWS re/Start team.
Ant, I look forward to seeing what you do next in the cloud, and beyond.
