Play to your strengths.

“Cultivate a deep understanding of yourself – not only what your strengths and weaknesses are but also how you learn, how you work with others, what your values are, and where you can make the greatest contribution. Because only when you operate from strengths can you achieve true excellence.”

— Peter F. Drucker (quote)

You cannot judge a fish by how fast it climbs a tree.

People who can use their natural talents in an environment that suits their strengths are more efficient and effective.

They learn new skills faster. They are more satisfied with their work. Customers will also be happier to engage with employees who are engaged with their jobs.

As someone with years of experience at Per Scholas, I see it all the time. Learners like having an instructor who seems to enjoy their job, as opposed to having an instructor who does not want to be there.

This is the same in any school - we would rather have a teacher who likes their job and wants to help students, as opposed to a teacher who hates going to work every day.

When people are in roles that fit their strengths, surrounded by competent teammates with complementary skills, that team is going to perform with more confidence, experience less burnout, and maybe solve problems nobody else could figure out.

THE TAKEAWAY: Play to your strengths.
