Troubleshooting Life 156, June 4 - Be responsible for studying the information you deliver

In today’s Daily Drucker, Drucker and Maciariello talk about how everyone must take responsibility for their information.

The members of an orchestra are responsible for playing the right information, or “notes.”

Doctors and paramedics are responsible for using elaborate information systems for their work.

A technical instructor at Per Scholas, or a university professor, or a movie director, all are responsible for their information.

All these professionals have superiors who depend on them for some information.

They also have subordinates who they depend on for some information.

And so, each party is also responsible for studying the information they must deliver.

The actress, the director, the movie producer, the movie marketing specialist, all of these professionals must take full responsibility for their information.

Learning their lines, or planning camera moves, or staying on budget, or designing the poster.

Dr. Radhakrishnan Pillai writes about study time in Chanakya in Daily Life, citing Arthashastra:

‘The duties of a king (leader) are—studying, performing sacrifices for self, making gifts and protecting beings.’ (1.3.6)

It is important to study whatever it is you must study.

That way, when the time comes and you must act, you can take full information responsibility.

ACTION POINT: Be responsible for studying the information you deliver
